I’m on Fiyah!!!! First Granny Square

*said in my Doug Heffernan voice*

So I tried a granny square!  It looks fine from this angle.

But let me move the skein of yarn … LOLOL!!!  😀

Oye!!!  The top part of it needs some crutches.  LOLOL  😀  I’m not mad though.  I think I  have the general idea in my head and I’m already planning to make a granny square blanket and join Carole at her “One A Day” meme.  Woooooo Nellie.  I can see these squares becoming as addictive to me as hexipuffs are to crafters all around the world.

For whatever it’s worth, I got it started, I rocked my dc (double crochet stitches) and I’m a happy camper. 😀

Now it’s time for bed so I’ll try this again tomorrow.

ETA: Now that I’ve slept on it, straightened the square out, and consulted some crochet gurus, I realise that I didn’t complete the round, I’m missing a corner cluster.  I’m going to do it from scratch since I don’t have enough bind off yarn to do the 5 dcs.  I could just join yarn if I wanted to but hey … I’m going to start over from the beginning.  Hopefully by the end of the day, I’ll have a couple done.

ETA: 7.20.2012

Round 2: Getting better.  😀

I think it looks great, once you get used to making them, those squares will add up quickly. I love the bright color you chose for your square. It seems you and I have that in common. I love color.

I’m working an afghan. I used the same pattern you used here. Since it’s a traditional granny square I didn’t use a pattern, this square is fairly easy to make.

Anyway, for my granny square, I added three different colors. I call it ”citrus explosion” because of the colors used. I’m making the afghan for my daughter’s room. It’s bright and cheerful, just like her. 🙂 In between WIPS, I’ll whip a few of the squares. The colors used will look great for my daughter’s room.

Hexipuffs, eh? You too? I’m working on a beekeepers quilt. I\’m making it queen size. I must be mad…. 😉

Thanks Opal! 😀 I did another one and it’s much better. The instructions I used initially are not “clicking” in my head but a search through my library yielded another set and they make a lot more sense to me. It’s rainy in my neck of the woods so my goal for the day is to finish my chores then sit in my pjs and granny square allllllllllllllllllllll day until I get a look I like. 😀

Your afghan sounds great! 😀 Do you have WIP pics of it on your blog? I’d love to what you’ve done so far.

And no way to hexipuffs right now. At the rate people are talking about them, they seem like knitting crack right now. 😀 I have the pattern but I’m hoping to make a huge throw or coverlet for my bed by joining small granny squares. That’ll be my addiction for now! LOLOL!
