No talking … just details:
Project Details:
- Pattern: Tuva
- Designer: Turvid Design
- Yarn: KP Merino Style. Hand-dyed by me. Blogged here
- Modifications: Shortened main section to 5.5 inches instead of 7 as per the pattern.
- Other comments: The number of k2tog gave me a callus on my fingers but I still enjoyed the pattern. Used 9 inch circulars to decrease but coming to the end they were hard to maneuver. Got some ladders that are noticeable by me but I doubt anyone else will see them. I guess I’ll have to revisit both dpns and magic loop techniques. Or … I might just do the Traveling Loop.
ETA: This project is my first completed for My Sister’s Knitter KAL/CAL and the fifth for my Summer Sizzle Stash Dash.
ETA again — This project also makes the cut for my Craft Book Challenge for July. The pattern has been in my Ravelry library since early 2012.
Lovely finished hat! I had never heard of the traveling loop method, I will be trying that. Thank you!
Thanks so much Andi! 😀 It’s amazing how much I learn with little, seemingly less complicated projects. Never thought this hat would teach me so much.
Beautiful! Seems like it’s time to knit something without any k2tog’s 🙂
I use the traveling loop method a lot and I think it’s the best way to avoid ladders.
Yaaaaaaaaaas!!! I tried to work on my other WIP hat today … my hand was NOT having it!!! LOLOL!
I really appreciate the knit advice; I’m definitely going to try the traveling loop on the other hat I have in hibernation.
See, this why you’re one of my knitting she-roes! I should just get your number and put you on speed dial! LOLOL!
Ok 🙂 I love having knitting buddies!
Ps. Just friended you on goodreads. Despite the fact that I have yet to post any books that I’ve read. Siiiiigh.
I’m so serious … I”m going to pm you!
You just got back from a super intense volunteer stint … you get a pass. Just add a few and you’ll see … you’ll have a queue before you know it.
Goodreads really got me reading again; it’s my favourite hobby. I think my undercover competitive edge just loves to see the count increase. I can feel Fall coming so it’s about to be ON with the reading!
Tell me about it: I’m so looking forward to fall. Enter knitting and reading season. Cuddled under a blanket with a nice cup of tea. Damn, I sound like I’m 50 years old. Although, I hear that’s the new 30?
I’m older than you so just call me Granny Diva cause a good book, some knitting, a cuddly blanket and some tea … that’s my kinda partay!!! 😛
My tea collection rivals my yarn collection! No lie!
Haha. I just hit up the tea store today and stocked up. Still doesn’t rival my yarn stash but I’m hoping that one day I will have a whole cupboard dedicated to tea.
cheers for great tea my friend! 😀 I’m at one quarter cupboard with my tea stash and that excludes what I have at work.
