Bloggie Awards

😳  It’s always humbling to find out that there are people out there (other than my friends and relatives) who actually read my blog.  There are many blogs I love, I just don’t ever think that people feel the same way about mine.   I know … it’s kinda nuts but that’s how I feel.  So it’s always with deep gratitude that I accept blog awards.  I found out that Hannah gifted me with two and Ashley with one.  To both of you and all my other readers, thank you so much.  What you all have done is once again made me re-define community and also challenge myself to really up my fibre arts game!  Now I really can’t be a slacker!  LOLOL!  😀

It’s really wonderful to be a part of such a wonderful group of crafters.

From Hannah, I got:

&

From Ashley:

Part of accepting the awards is to answer the following questions:

  1. Your favourite colour?  Purple, purple and purple!  Did I say purple?  😀
  2. Your favourite animal?  Dogs primarily!  And owls.
  3. Your favourite non-alcoholic drink?  Tea, tea, and more tea!  I can’t begin to tell you how many flavours and brands of tea I have in my pantry.
  4. Facebook or Twitter? Oye … technically none.  I hate both of them!  I’d set-up a Twitter account so I can tell my dad (who has FB, can you believe that?!) how it works.  I haven’t logged on in forever; in my mind, that account’s good as dead cause I’m just not into tweeting.  Can y’all believe that I have an IT degree?    Don’t stone me!  LOLOL!!!
  5. Your favourite pattern? No favorite pattern but favorite designers.  Anything from Erika Knight and Martina Behm.  They both make the simplest stitches look so sophisticated and I love, love, love the aesthetics of Erika’s books.
  6. Getting or giving presents? Both giving and getting.  I feel special in both instances.  I’m hoping that the new year would see a me as a more efficient crafter, so I could give more handmade items.
  7. Your favourite number? 7.  The number of change and the number most represented in the Bible.
  8. Your favourite day of the week? Wednesday.  Makes the challenge of finishing the work week easier.
  9. Your favourite flower?  Gladiolas.
  10. What is your passion? My passion is two-fold.  I like to learn new things and in learning new things I like to apply them to becoming a better person.  A better child, sister, friend, aunty, cousin, woman, crafter, employee, Christian … you get my drift.  😀

The final thing to do is to nominate other blogs that I feel deserving of the awards.  Honestly, I love so many of them and many have received the awards already, but I’m going to list some that I think you all could get some amazing inspiration from:

  1. Joyfulwise
  2. Of Thoughts & Dreams
  3. All Fingers & Thumbs
  4. A Creative Being
  5. Yarn Over Matter

Lovely Blog Award

So I made my weekly trek over to Hannah’s blog to find out that she passed on to me another blog award.   I’ve said it before, when I started blogging, it was really just to keep crafty tabs on myself and record somewhere what I make.  I didn’t expect readers other than my crafty friends and family who know I blog.  Blogging and crafting have connected me with some wonderful people so I’m really glad I’m doing it.  Ha … now that I know people are reading, I guess I should update more often. 🙂

So thank you Hannah and here’s to all the other lovely blogs out there!!!!

The rules of receiving the award are that I share 7 random things about myself, so here they are:

  • I’m a voracious reader.  I was reading two grade levels ahead of my age when I was 5.
  • I’m new to counted cross stitching but so far I love it!!!  Keep on the look out soon for completed projects. 🙂
  • Although I used to be a hardware tech in another life, I hate wireless connectivity.  The security no matter how good is always more vulnerable to hacking.  To that end, I don’t have an Ipad and use my laptop like a desktop.  I understand the advantages, but I hate the risk.
  • I clean my fridge when I’m mad and need to let off steam.  😀  What?!!!  This is totally random.  😀
  • I like polish on my toes but hate having it on my fingers.  It chips too quickly there.
  • I like earrings.  The bolder, the better!!!
  • Although I’ve lived in NY for 12 years, I’ve never been to Ellis Island.  This summer it’s a must-do.

I’m also supposed to pass the award on to 7 blogs that are lovely.  All of my nominees except for the one below have either gotten this award already.   So I’m going to break the rules and award this to one of my favorite blogs — AutumnGeisha.   Her work is phenomenal and she’s such a sweet, quiet and super encouraging presence.  Her blog is another one that I visit every week and I get super excited with I see that she’s updated.  We both are Jane Austen and ABBA (yes, the music group) fans — and I found out yesterday (from her Rav page) that she’s into counted cross-stitching also.  Hop over to her spot, take a look, I promise you wouldn’t be disappointed!
