Kitchen Tales: Welp … I did say I was going to make Bread …

😀

And I did!  Just not the traditional whole wheat bread I wanted to.

I’ve made petit loaves of basil and red pepper bread.  It’s really a muffin recipe but I baked the mixture in my Wilton’s petit loaf pan making it bread in my opinion.  😛  They taste good on their own, but they’ll be great with tuna fish.  I can have them for breakfast or as a snack.  They also freeze well which is a huge plus given how little time I have during the week to make a bunch of different foods.

Then I made the bessssssssssssst banana bread I’ve made.  Non-dairy — yes mi gyals — no eggs but ridiculously moist.  🙂    Maybe I’ll tackle the traditional loaf next week.

My “Kitchen Tales” ended today with grilled chicken tenders and roasted asparagus.

Did you all make anything good this weekend?

Weekend Happy!

My weekends are usually filled to the brim.  Filled to the point where I’m tired on Monday mornings when the new work week starts.  So this weekend, I started early.  All my cleaning, laundry and house-work were done earlier.  Linen and curtains changed.  My bathroom redone for spring!  My apt windows opened to let the wonderful spring air in.

I squeezed in a marathon conversation with my mum … as usual … but I feel good heading into Sunday.  Tomorrow morning’s for cooking, baking and getting my clothes ready for the upcoming week.  By 2:00 pm, all things being well, I should get some knitting or crochet in and just relaxing.

What made me happy this weekend:

Season 1 of Downton Abbey.

It’s amazing that I had this series queued in my Netflix account long before the Downton Abbey hype.  I’ve always loved these period, British inspired movies and series because they remind me so much of the British influence where I’m from.  The caste system, the setup of villages instead of cities, parishes instead of states, the food, the language, tea — they all remind me so much of home.

Hope you each are having a wonderful weekend as well.
