38/52: The “I had minor surgery” Edition …

These days it seems like I only have time for life posts but some crafting has been going on — just not that much.  This week, I had to have minor surgery to remove a cyst under my arm … ouch!!!!  I also had to terminate a problem employee who became very upset with me.  #bummer!   This week I had to think really hard about the things that were good since it was a tiring week. But since there’s always something to be grateful for, I do have things to record.  This week, I’m grateful for:

  • Having my cyst removed on Friday.  The thing was beginning to make a permanent home under my arm.  I trust God that the specimen sent to the lab doesn’t show anything “funky” and it’s just a regular ole cyst.
  • The rest I’m getting due to the cyst removal.  It was removed from my right arm and that’s my dominant arm so I can’t do much.  Right now, even my typing is making the surgical area hurt.   As annoying as not being able to do much is, it gives me some time to plan some things and evaluate others.
  • My aunty Shirley is on her way back!!!!  😀  I’m so happy about that I could cry … tears of joy that is!  😀
  • Having my co-workers protect me against the belligerent former employee.  Harry, Marce, Chris, V … thanks!!!!   Harry made a key switch after the employee had left my office; Marce got me lunch because he was acting out in the Reception area, Chris kept checking on me and paid Marce for my lunch so I wouldn’t have to go outside or meet the ex employee at the Reception area.  V cautioned another employee against bringing the man to my office without an appt.  Whatever she said to our co-worker worked so I didn’t have to deal with another blow-up.
  • Being able to recognize that I need to make some changes in the way I’ve been eating recently.  I was gifted the Whole Food Class with this lady last year and was very happy with the content.  Because I enjoyed that course so much I decided to take a gander at her 30 Day Vegan program.  My goal is not to become a full-time vegan, I just need the 30 day cleanse and a jump-start to a more plant based diet so I registered for this course on Thursday.  I’m calling this a birthday present since my birthday is 6 days before the start of the class:

  • Being able to test this pattern.  As soon as I can hold my camera, I’ll show you what I did with these love bombs!  😀   They’re so quick and easy to make!!!  And super delightful as well.  I’ll do a pattern review when I post the pictures.
  • My cousin Sab and her sister already making birthday plans for me!  I have to find a sassy top to go with my pencil skirt since we’ll be having dinner at Tao!  BOOOOOM!!!! 😀

Hope you all had a wonderful week!  Cheers to a great upcoming week!!!! 😀

Ouch for the surgery but I’m glad you got that cyst removed! Hope you’re all better now. What a week! I’m loving how you’re enjoying the lead-up to your birthday – many, many things to celebrate including bye-bye irate ex employee, woot woot!

Getting there. My hand has been hurting more than I expected but I think it’s because the cyst was bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside.

Agreed … so many things to celebrate and give thanks for. I’m really looking forward to my birthday this year. 😀

Wishing you all of the best and hoping for your speedy recovery. I hope that your body cleanse goes well and that you see benefits from it. I have started to change my diet and I am pleased with the results so far, Remember everything is a process, be gentle with yourself.

Thanks for the reminder Ash. I’m a “if I’m going to do this I want to do it well NOW!!!” LOLOL! I’ll try to remember to be gentle with myself. 😀

happy to hear that the surgery went well, hope your recovery is good too! I used to be vegan, my old roommate was and it just sort of became a part of my life for a few years. After I got married it wasn’t that convenient since my hubby is a meat and meat and potatoes kind of guy. But over the years I have been able to blend the two together and he’s the better for it. For me personally, soups and bowl type food are the easiest and can be the most healthy. Hope it goes well for you!

Thanks for visiting, for your well-wishes and your tips for transitioning with my eating Olivia. I really do appreciate it. 😀 I’m a soup and bowl kinda gal too, I need to drop by your blog for some inspiration!!!

Glad to hear you surgery went well & your aunt is in recovery.

I can’t imagine having to fire someone. They should’ve had security with you to escort him off the premises when you had to break the news if there was indication that he was volatile.

Enjoy the restaurant. Never been there but it looks like a great place.

Me and Aunty Shirley thank you for your well wishes friend. 😀 You know I had to do it before Rhinebeck so I’ll be right as rain in order to keep up with you! 😛

Over the years, the terminations have become part of the job … but every time is like the first time. *smhs*. And I don’t have to tell you about my job … security? What security? 🙄

I’ll give you a restaurant review on the way to Rhinebeck. I’m meeting them there the night before. 😀

So sorry to hear that you had surgery. Really no surgery is minor, as the pain sometimes lasts long after. Sending you healing thoughts.

    • Nicky September 23, 2013 / 5:44 pm

Thank you so much Andi. ♥

I’m so used to the big stuff I just didn’t think that this would have been as huge a deal as it’s turning out to be.

The things I take for granted! Now that it’s hard to move my dominant arm, I appreciate things like being able to wash my hair, sweep my floors, craft, cook and even to write.

I hope your healing is quick and you are back to 100% soon.
It sounds like you work with some really awesome people, sorry about the one bad apple, but now things should run smoothly, right?
Enjoy your cleanse, Heather is on smart and inspiring woman. I just finished a 10 day juice cleanse, and while it was hard, I’m glad I did it. I am not a vegan, but have been a vegetarian for many years and honestly I feel so much better eating this way.

    • Nicky September 23, 2013 / 5:46 pm

Thanks so much for visiting me here Tracey. I really appreciate your input re the course and the difference cleanses and eating vegetarian makes for you. It’s inspirational and encouraging to hear other people’s experiences. More so, to know that it can be done without sacrificing good food.

Hope you don’t mind if I pm you on Rav for some other tips and tricks. 😀

Many blessings D’Nali. sometimes life gets in the way. For me wellness is a priority. I can identify with your medical minor surgery. I’m glad to see that you are taking time to nurture you self.

    • Nicky September 23, 2013 / 5:48 pm

Thanks so much for your well wishes Stacks. You’re absolutely right … although life does get in the way, wellness should always be our priority! Hope your surgery went well too and here’s to us all nurturing ourselves the way we should! ♥
