The February Edition: Craft Book Challenge

I kid you not … I have no idea where February went!  It came, I blinked, it was gone!   I don’t know why I thought I had another Sunday to go before I could post my Craft Book Challenge monthly wrap-up.

Although I didn’t do as much crafting as I’d hoped this month, I still did stuff.  I cooked, I made bread, I made candy … oye … I did good right?  😛

I’m going to cheat with my entries this month … well kinda.  😳  The things I made this month came from my craft books.  You’ve seen them already, so I’m just going to link the posts instead of posting the pictures again.  I’m going to include the name of the craft books I used so you’ll know I’m not cheating … well … not too much.  😀

This month I worked on blanket squares for this charity effort and  I customised a basic sugar scrub recipe for my friend at work.

From my pattern/recipe library, I used:

  • Basic sugar scrub recipe from a binder of downloaded recipes from this site.  A former co-worker downloaded the binder for me in 2003.  I guess he knew my crafty potential before I did!  Thanks Tim!  😀
  • Knit & Purl.  Edited by Erika Knight.  Bought by my mom as a Valentine day gift in 2011.

For March’s effort, I’m going to roll over the projects I didn’t complete this month.   Here’s the list    …  again:

  • complete one of my spring projects
  • start Z’s blanket
  • start my circles
  • start and possibly complete my first sweater
  • start my spinning adventures — go through the Respect the Spindle DVD
  • start my surprise project/technique

The three extra days in March plus daylight savings time starting March 10th must count for something!!!  😛

My goodness! You are certainly going to be busy! It’s definitely nice to see a plan work out though.

If I tell the truth, the list sounds bigger than it really is. It can be done if I manage my time well this month.

I love lists, they keep me on track even if I don’t finish everything.

You’ve certainly accomplished a lot this month! So looking forward to all other goodies you come up with this year.

At first I thought the Craft Book challenge (my modified version) would be a drag, but I’m actually quite enjoying it so far. I’m kind of excited about my stashes again. -Nizzy

Honestly, I didn’t think I did but I started to go through my posts and realised I wasn’t such a slacker! I even made banana nut muffins in Feb although I didn’t post the pictures. This year is definitely looking better craft-wise and I’m so loving it!

I felt the same way about the craft book challenge. But now it’s even more fun now that I’ve expanded “crafting” to include body care and sewing projects instead of only concentrating on crochet and knitting. I’ve definitely been having fun!

Ooh working on a baby blanket is so much fun… cant wait to see which pattern you choose. Good luck with the march challenge.

Thanks so much for your support Sam. The blanket I choose for Z is the Granny Mandala pattern from Alice. She doesn’t blog anymore ( 😦 ) but the pattern is on Rav and on her blog … here.

You really should! It’s so easy! I whipped up a batch for my friend you spent yesterday afternoon and night hanging out with me. It was so much fun to test another scent. Turned out amazing!
