Not Exactly A Slacker :P

Although I haven’t been able to craft much over the last two weeks or so, I have been able to make some progress on these W.I.Ps:

I did cast on my Dr. Who inspired (aka Who’s Cousin :D) scarf.Β  I’ll be making modifications to this scarf because I don’t want it as long as the original.Β  I want to be able to wear it and not trip over the ends! πŸ˜€

In honor of International Crochet Day, I’m showing the WIP of the Granny square cushion I started at the end of July.Β  I haven’t been able to work on my squares that much — especially now that I’m back at school (graduate) and working full-time, but it’ll be done.Β  The colour is too awesome to not finish this project.Β  With the colour combo sorted out, my goal is to set aside from noon until whenever on Saturday to craft — crochet and knit.Β  My goal is to finish the rest of the squares for the front of the cushion (7 squares in total) and possibly begin the squares needed (25) for the back.

I’m also participating in another swap with my Knit Picks Swap groupΒ  — last one for the year — (whomp, whomp 😦  ), and I’ll be using some of my Nashua superwash for one of the four handmade projects I’m making for my partner.Β  That’s all I can really say about it until she receives the box.Β  πŸ˜€

I hope you all are having a great “Hump Day”!!!!Β  And P.S. Happy International Crochet Day to my fellow hookers !!!!!! πŸ˜‰ Β

Don’t forget to pop over to Tami’s for today’s installment of WIP Wednesday and be inspired!!!

How cool is that, I didn’t know about international crochet day! πŸ™‚

I have a yarn-lover’s contest on right now you and your readers might want to check out. Stop by my craft blog for the details.

A shorter who scarf is on my list too! Though mine is going to be even more loosely inspired, as I don’t like the look of colour changes in garter so might to a simple rib or something.

I’m going to hunt around for better garter stitch colour change techniques. The official Dr Who site actually has one if you’re interested.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment over on my knitting post; I see you’re also knitting a scarf only yours looks much more time consuming with all those color changes (and ends to weave in…yikes!). Happy knitting! ~Lisa

Still loving on those grannies! Can’t wait to see the pillow when it’s done!

I’m doing some space redo and last night I got a πŸ’‘ I have the perfect place to stage that pillow when it’s done. πŸ˜€ Sooooooo excited!!!!

I love the yarn in the first picture, its going to be a pretty scarf with those color combinations. Also love the granny squares, sure looks like a lot of ends to weave in! (I just had an end weaving party, soooo terrible I have no patience for it. And don’t you just love swaps? I signed up for two for the fall, and I’m already in one. Yes I know, not very smart with Christmas coming up.

Thanks for commenting Misty. πŸ˜€ My impatience to see the Dr. Who combo is another motivating factor to making it shorter than the original. πŸ˜€

As for the grannies … some of them have the ends weaved in already and look how much is still left. I’m going to finish them all then take a day to weave the ends in. I’m going to make sure I have some food and wine when I do that. πŸ˜€

OMG … I can’t tell you how much I loooooooooooooooooooooove swaps!!! So far I’ve gotten great partners so I hoping for the same with this swap. LOLOL at not being smart participating in so many around the holidays … that’s why we’re doing this one now then we’ll be back in January. πŸ˜€

Nice I can’t wait to see what you send/ get :] I’ve gotten great partners so far except for one, and that one really burned because it was an expensive swap too, so now my rule is cheap ones only. And yay for end weaving parties and wine definitely helps haha or pumpkin spice latte with kahlua too ;]
Your scarf makes me want to cast on again… MUST RESIST!!! I’m contemplating having a give away for the pink tan weaving lol

        • Nicky September 13, 2012 / 9:39 am

Oh my goodness … get away from me you!!!! Kahlua … I’d mainline that if I could!!! :D.

Don’t back away from the scarf … “come into the light”. LOLOL!!!! πŸ˜€

Maybe I will make one! I have no idea what the show is about though! lol!

And I see you make soap, you must help me advance from just melting bases and adding fragrance to legit making soap skills!

            • Nicky September 15, 2012 / 12:11 pm

I understand and like the show but I’m not a die-hard Whovian.

As for the soap making skills, my goal for the upcoming new year is to do better with that. I’m at the melt n pour place too. I got this book in a Rav swap (gotta love ’em πŸ™‚ ) so any help I can give you I’ll be happy to. We’ll work past the melt n pour stage together. πŸ˜€
