Ombre Coasters

I needed a quick fix to complete my crafty weekend that didn’t quite happen but kinda did.  LOLOL!   But before I get to the project, I have to tell on myself cause the pattern is one that came from a new crochet block book I bought last month.   Yeah … I’m not doing so good with not purchasing books.  Kinda but not kinda.  I’ve not bought any magazines or random books … just instruction books … but I digress.

But back to the project — Ombre Coasters; I like to call the pattern, “Spring In Brooklyn

Details:

  • Pattern: In Bloom (from book 500 crochet blocks)
  • Yarn: KP Dishie in Pomegranate, Fiesta Red, Lionbrand Cotton in Grape, KP Dishie in Flamingo and Lionbrand Cotton in Vanilla
  • Difficulty Rating: Beginner
  • Modifications: None.  But when I do them again, I’ll use the seamless join instead of the slip-stitch join the pattern calls for.  That join is typically untidy looking to me and with cotton being so thick, the join is even more untidy to me.

These are such a happy, cheerful addition to my kitchen.  I’m using them already!  😀

Hope you each had a wonderful weekend.

Under the Wire!!!!

I finished this square with a little bit to spare.  So glad I did!  I can mail it with the other two tomorrow.

On another note, am I the only person who loves blocking?  I’m going to leave my love of that for another time and just post evidence of my getting this square done under the wire.

The square is about 7 inches long here.  Two more inches and the bind-off to go …

Pattern Number 2: Tiny Textures

from Jan Eaton’s — 200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets, Throws & Afghans

So glad I got this finished!  Next up, swatching for this project.  It’s kinda sweet to know that this skein of yarn is the one I learned to crochet with in Jan 2012 and it’s been put to such good use.
