According to ole skool mommas … we need to know when to “ack right”.
I know you’re lost … probably like “what in the world is she talking about?” 😀
Lemme explain.
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been getting some surprise mail packages. Jacquard dyes from Asha, essential oils for candle making from Andi and a spindle kit from my friend Kathy in CT. Then there are you all — likes on IG, comments here and on Ravelry plus my mum squawking in my ear 😀
All this support from people who think I should continue to do what I’m doing — trying to learn to spin (it will happen!!!), candle making and dyeing. The packages and this quote from my IG feed cemented a great deal for me last week:
So I’m going to do just what my ole skool mommas and you all are saying … I’m gonna ack right and keep going. Keep learning, keep doing 😀
What’s something you want to do, that thing you want to learn? That place you want to go to? What’s that thing you need to “ack right” about? Talk to me in the comments.

Your “ack right” thoughts are inspiring! I plan to use this summer to give back to my community and also be mindful to savor the process when I’m creating with my hands.
You sound like my husband! I’ve been trying not to feel too down about being unemployed, out of shape, not really contributing, but it creeps in. My super sweet husband keeps reminding me not to give up and keep pushing…I’m totally with you that love from friends and family makes a huge difference…speaking of! Keep rocking those spinning, dyeing, and candle-making lessons 🙂
Jenna, I totally understand. I’ve been unemployed for 8 months now so I get it. My last place of employment got shut down by the state and at some point, the search for a new job gets exhausting and demoralising. But hang in there, and I agree with your husband … “ack right!” 😀 Do the things you can do but don’t give up. Praying for your job search as well as mine. We’ll be just fine. Eventually.
Revamping my Spanish and learning Portuguese. But that’ll happen after the exam.
Love! It’s been a while since I tackled languages … I should put Spanish back on my to do list. You would so rock at languages.
Yay! Glad to see that you are going to push forward and set goals for yourself. Once you keep moving you will get where you are headed. 🙂
For me, I just need to continue to study the Bible and grow on my walk of Faith. As for everything else, once I get that going they will fall into balance.
Girl, giving up is not an option — at least not for me so onwards!!!! 😀
I love your goal, it is so very, very important. I received a day-book from a friend yesterday and that got me shuffling my daily readings. I did my devotional this morning, then the reading from that book. The combination of them both gave me some much needed inspiration as I started today.
And this post makes me so happy! I like to think my dyeing experiment helped you take the leap into yarn dyeing 😉
You know what, you CAN say that. I’d messed around with Koolaid and natural dyes before but you made me take the acid dye leap. It seemed so dangerous … people with masks and gloves and all kinds of cautionary tales, I didn’t think I could use acid dyes in my current apt. But look at me now! 😀 Common sense and necessary precautions and I’m good to go! 😀
I love what you are doing. And enjoying the idea of ‘Ack Right’. For me, I need to back off from work and invest more of my time and energy where it counts – with loved ones, as well as things that add to my physical and mental health (and not detract from it).
Your “ack right” goals need such a delicate balance and you’re not the only one who needs to do this. The work world is not receptive to the concept of work/life balance although they tout it everywhere. The reality is so different. We need jobs but we need the things that ground us also. Praying that you find the balance you need. ❤
It’s so good for our minds [and our souls] to keep learning. Each year I try to learn three new things, this year it’s better photography [I’m taking a class], try my hand at fiber dying [I did] and learn to paint with watercolors.
One day I would love to have my own potter’s wheel and kiln, but first I need finish raising Alex [he takes a lot to feed ;)].
My son in love, daughter and granddaughter are moving to Germany the beginning of August [US Army] so I am planning a trip! It really wasn’t on my radar to visit Germany, but now it is 🙂
Have a beautiful Sunday my dear.
I love your goals Tracey!!! Your pictures do you credit, I could look at them for hours!!!!
I read on the blog that your sweeties are leaving — that’s quite an adventure. I know you would miss them terribly but you’re right … Germany is another place for you to visit. ❤
