Oye vey!!!!!! Kandy’s About To Be Toast!!!!

Kandy’s my camera.

Last week, I turned her on and realised that the screen was whiting out.  Just unpacked her from my Philly trip and guess what?  Her USB is now unrecognizable to my computer.  I did all the tech troubleshooting I should do but the port is shot!  A card reader would help but I’m not able to get that until Friday.

I’ve had her for 8 years and hoped to chug along with her until the end of the year but it seems like I’m going to have to upgrade sooner rather than later.

I don’t want to set her down yet but — le sigh — I guess I should start taking recommendations.  What camera do you all use?

Hey Nicky! I use the canon t1i. It does what I need. But I’d like to get a newer version though when funds permit. I gave away a Nikon once because I just didn’t take to it, but a friend of mine loved it. I also gave away one of the first canon rebels years ago when I got my current camera. It took much warmer shots, but I loved it too. I may always be a canon fangirl. It stinks to HAVE to get a new one though. You get so used to your usual set up.

Thanks for weighing in Stacey. I love my Dad’s Nikon but it uses film. For digital though … I love Canon. Thanks for the recommendation and yes … I’ll be sad to have to finally put her down. At this point, we know what we need to do together. LOLOL!

RIP Kandy. 😦 I haven’t bought a camera in years. The last really good camera I used I was 17 and it was still in the era of film rolls. 😂 The digital cameras I’ve had since then are nowhere near the level of camera you got.

I wish I could get my dad’s film Nikon. The next time I go home, I’m going to take it from him if he can find it.

Kandy’s still spluttering along; I got the card reader on Friday so I was able to download my pics but Kandy 2.0 is definitely in the works before the end of the year.

Huge bummer! I have a canon, both point and shoot and dslr and have found them to be really durable and reliable. Really early xmas gift to yourself?

Either an early Christmas or chug along until December with the card reader instead.

What model do you have? Kandy’s a Canon too.

I have a rebel Ti1. I really like it for what I use it for. It’s basic, small and totally reliable. Sorry for the delay in my reply. I am not like my camera. I am totally unreliable, though basic and small. I don’t know what I’m saying right now. Maybe I need more wine.

And I e-love you anyway! You’re still adorable! ❤ So … Rhinebeck or not?

What a bummer! I remember sending in our camera to Canon to get some water damage fixed, they said it would cost X amount and we decided that it would cost us less to just buy a new one!! So, we bought the Canon Rebel T2i during a sale. And then the hubster found a barely-used Canon 5D on Craigslist that he snapped up for 500 bucks!

Thanks for the recommendations Preeti. I’ll look into those models. Hope you’re having a blast in Oregon! 😀

Thanks love. I’m sad to lose her but change is good right?
