This week, I decided to wear dresses. The temperature was rising as was the humidity and I decided to bare all! This was a huge deal for me as I’m not I used to not be a fan of my legs so I wear pants allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the time (much to the chagrin of my mother) LOL! However, I’m understanding that being FFF — Fit, Fine & Fabulous — means that I need to embrace my body for what God made it to be, accept the things I can’t change, work on the things I need to and style my body confidently and well. Anyone see a body confidence post coming up soon? 😀
Before I stepped out this week baring all, I made my own summer inspired DIY exfoliation scrub. No matter who you are and what you look like, beautiful skin will always be an enhancement. So to combat dry summer skin, in addition to upping my water intake, instead of using one of my own recipes like I did here and here, I opted for the one below and I have to say, it was divine! It’s perfect as an in the shower exfoliating scrub and as the perfect foot/hand scrub for those at home mani/pedis.

As with everything I share, whether I’ve made it or found it on the web, the ingredients for the most part will be items you already have in your home. This particular recipe uses mint oil as its essential oil but here are some other light, summery inspired ones:
- peppermint
- tangerine
- lavender
- chocolate
- chamomile
- grapefruit
These can be easily found in your local drugstore, whole foods store, or online. We see these concoctions all the time in fancy skin-care stores and at fancy make-up counters, but they are so easy to make, anyone can do it. It’s as easy as 1,2,3, with amazing results!!!
And if you’re looking for a pretty container to put your mixture in, your local Container Store, Ikea or hardware store would have any of the two options I’m about to show you. A pretty label and some decorative string/twine would complete the look.
Now go make your skin and you feel beautiful!!!! Let me know if you make your own scrubs in the comment section. And I want to hear what you used!!! What works and the scents you like.
Have a fabulous Friday!!!
Yay to embracing your body as it. Thank you very much for the body scrub recipe.
You’re welcome Andi!! And in total agreement — yay to embracing our bodies!
This scrub looks so luscious. Exfoliation and moisture boost in one! The ladies in my family swear by homemade body scrubs and facemasks. I’ve got jars of various concoctions in my bathroom cupboard. The one I’ve been using this week is a tomato pulp-rice flour-plain yogurt mixture. Sounds gross, but the results are amazing! This has to be refrigerated and is perfectly soothing after being out in the sun.
LOLOL! Your concoction doesn’t sound gross; it sounds interesting! But don’t you know, the strange sounding ones work the best way!!!! 😀
I wonder why it is that we have such a hard time embracing the bodies God gave us ? Now that I have past menopause I have a ‘new’ body, much different than the one I had before, but I am trying to love it, it’s hard.
Glad you are doing well!
I wear dresses a lot too because they are cooler.
Have a great summer weekend.
I have no idea. Even the best of us have body confidence issues (whether we admit it or not). I’d like to get to the point where that’s of absolutely no concern to me. It is indeed hard; there’s so much out there in the world that encourages us to not be satisfied with our bodies. So much out there that give us this false sense of underachievement if we don’t have this, or do this, or wear this, or look like this. Loving ourselves and our bodies is an every person issue. But we can get to where we need to though! And we will!
Very nice. Looking forward to your body confidence post because goodness knows I need it. 😦
Girl we all struggle from time to time. You’re definitely not alone. ❤
