This weekend past, I was watching indie movie “Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity” about 12 year old Mindy who was a “practitioner” of Taoist magic. The goal of Mindy’s magical spells was to change her mother’s financial situation and her love prospects. At some point while practicing magic, Mindy’s attempt to locate her friend’s missing turtle ends in her finding a rat. (ugghhhh … shudders). His response to her magic … “you’re such a poser.” In his mind, Mindy failed as a magician and the likelihood of her ever using magic to find his turtle or conduct a successful spell was slim to none. So what does that have to do with me and my crafting?
To tell the truth, honestly, I feel like a craft poser. I start projects and once I get any new technique down that I’m learning, I lose interest so the project ends up not completed. See Exhibit A. 😳 That scarf is just laying there … mocking me every time I walk by it … which is daily. 😳
I even at one point, created a workspace AND came up with a list of projects (complete with a fancy title) that would become FO’s (finished objects) in 2011. See Exhibit B. Aye Vey!!!! Someone save me from myself.
Welp, just like Mindy (in the end her spell did work) I’m going to, once again, try to shed my poser cloak. On Ravelry, there’s a group of knitters doing a meme series — Come Blog Along: A Year of Projects. I’m not sure if I’m going to join; I feel like I should. While I make up my mind, I’m going to consolidate my 20 in 2011 project list with some other knit projects I want to do in between and do my own Year of Projects list. I might even make my own banner. 😀
Now all I have to do is finish all the projects and like Mindy, not be a poser. 😳
