49/52 The “Tea Lover’s Paradise” Edition …

The week started with me leaving my house at the crack of dawn on Tuesday for court.  While that was the low-light of my week, there were many highlights that I needed and appreciated for the love, the thoughtfulness and the generosity they were filled with.  This week, I’m grateful for:

  • the legacy of Nelson Mandela.  He followed up his commitment to equality with conviction and was ready to die for his convictions.  His actions brought about monumental change to an ingrained system; what an impacting life he lived!

  • Graciousness.  Me being able to have a disagreement with my mom aka bff numero uno then have her be gracious enough to admit that she didn’t think of the situation the way I saw it once I explained my position.  She’s definitely my prime example of how to say “I’m sorry” and mean it.
  • My co-workers A & N, who went over and beyond with jokes and conversation to help me through a particularly difficult work day on Wednesday.  When they were done with me, I was laughing until I cried. I even snorted, so that should tell you how much I laughed!!!  😀
  • My co-worker who brought me a bag of greens because according to her “you’ll know what to do with them”!  Can somebody say soup?  😛
  • Being able to use my creative skills on four … yes I said four … projects this week.  It felt good to be knitting and crafting again and I forgot my self-consciousness and did so on the subway. 😳 That allowed me to introduce a rider to Ravelry and knitting.  How much more awesome can it get?

IMG_3867My retro colour-blocked cowl.  Almost finished.  I can’t wait to wear it.

IMG_3889A homemade clay ornament.  It was still drying here.

The other project is a gift so I’ll post that once she receives the package.    That project allowed me to be reacquainted with my sewing machine and I think there’ll be a lot more stitchery in my near future.

  • To end the week with a class at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens about growing a garden in my apt.  The presenter was engaging and it was wonderful to just do something for me.  No pressure.  Just enjoy the information and my classmates.  I even came home with my own desert garden.  I can’t wait to see it get bigger.
  • IMG_3933And the cherry on top of this week is a swap box from Mama Mellie in my Crafty Hookers group.  That box was as one person described it, a “Tea Lover’s Paradise” and it really was.  I got MamaMellieTeaThese yummies came with a stoneware steeping cup, a tea bag squeezer, chocolate, a beautiful oriental themed tea canister, empty bags for me to make my own tea combos with the loose leaf teas I have, a heart shaped infuser, some yarn and this beautiful ornament MamaMellie Ornament

Her package was definitely a beautiful end to an “interesting” week.  😀

Hope you each had a wonderful week and here’s to an awesome upcoming one! 😀

47/52

Okay … someone pinch me!  Is it really Thankgiving already?!!!  I’m just blown away at the speed this year has gone by.  I can’t believe that I’ve been doing my blessings posts for 47 weeks with 5 more to go!  As always, every week has something, someone, some event I need to be grateful for and this week was no exception.  😀  This week, I’m grateful for:

  • Great weather (in the 60’s) to start the week which allowed me to wash my windows.  It’s lovely looking out, especially in the evening hours, through cleaner windows. Window Washing Day
  • A gift from a co-worker.  She found some yarn at Goodwill and figured, I’d know what to do with them.  I thought it was so kind of her to think of me that way.  I’ve already found a pattern for the “mohair”.  😀  Goodwill Haul
  • Having my crafting mojo return with a vengeance!  Yesterday I was able to reclaim yarn from projects I made but don’t wear;  sort some patterns; then bag and tag the ones I want to work on (complete with the yarn) for the rest of Fall into Winter!!!  Wooohooo!!!  So glad it’s back; with the frigid temps we’re facing this weekend, crafting would be a great way to spend some time while the winds howl outside!
  • Bagged and Tagged Being able to start my holiday decorating!!!  Double wooohooooo!!!  Christmas DecoratingI’m going to spray paint the pinecones in different colours then take the rest of my decorations out today!!!  So excited!!
  • Being able to wind down from the work week (which was pretty good by the way 😀 ) with some hot chocolate to which I added wasabi chocolate shavings!!!  Yummsers!!!  IMG_3764

Off to go purchase a computer to ship to my mom, clean up, get my decorations out, then do a new swatch for this blanket.  Long story that I’ll share with you later!  LOLOL!  Hope your week was wonderful and cheers for a great upcoming week!!!!!  😀
